Four golden rules and steps to get high performance of protective paints.

1

Surface Preparation

Blast clean where require to SA 2½ grade minimum of Swedish specification SIS-05-5900-1967. Surface profile should not exceed 65 microns. If blast cleaning is not required, follow manual / mechanical cleaning to or St2 or St3 grade. Surface should be clean, dry, free from oil, grease, salt and other surface contaminants before application of paint.

2

Assessment of environmental conditions

Surrounding temperature will be below 50°C and relative humidity not more than 90%. For proper curing of most paints, ambient temperature should not be lower than 10°C and adequate air flow should be provided during application.

3

Application of paint

All primers, intermediate and finish coats should be applied as per stipulated procedure and instructions. Required film thickness is very important for performance. For more details, refer Technical Data Sheets.

4

Curing and drying of paint

Curing and consequent drying depends on film thickness, humidity, temperature and ventilation or air movement. Proper curing with required film thickness are most important for high performance.
